Community ImpactWe believe in impacting our community by investing in people. Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:21) Doubler's Club
In 1995, Jim founded the Doubler’s Club, a non-profit organization that distributes information on Washington, D.C. area speculative growth stocks. Each Doubler’s Club gathering features a speaker from one of the region’s hottest growth companies or an expert on the local economy. Presentations provide a platform for entrepreneurs and business ventures to get their ideas out into the marketplace, and at the same time equip members of the community with information they need to invest and build wealth in their local region. Past presenters include:
Membership in Doubler’s Club is open to anyone. The group meets for lunch on the third Tuesday of the month, at Maggiano’s Restaurant, The Galleria, Tysons II, McLean, VA. Later, when Tami befriended an expectant single mom, Jim noticed that the young woman flourished under his wife’s personal, relational, one-on-one care. The idea of a “Friends” program was born. Jim’s vision was realized with the incorporation of Birthmother Ministries in 1996. Birthmothers identifies, trains, equips and nurtures volunteer “Friends” to provide caring, nonjudgmental assistance for pregnant women and their partners — regardless of age, race, religion, income or marital status. The main focus of the ministry is on serving the pregnant woman by showing Jesus’ unconditional love, giving support and presenting the adoption option where appropriate. Since the organization’s inception, more than 300 women and their families in need have been served by Birthmothers and its volunteer Friends. The ministry continues to grow steadily with the regular addition of new staff, volunteer Friends and partnering churches. Pregnant women call Birthmothers’ toll-free helpline at 1-(877) 77-BIRTH 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Birthmothers operates a ministry website for supporters, volunteers and churches at www.birthmotherministries.org and an outreach website to expectant women and their families at www.birthmothers.org. Jim Wright serves as Birthmothers’ President. To learn more, contact Birthmother Ministries at (703) 241-4515 or via e-mail. A Friend loves at all times. (Proverbs 17:17) |
